So many times over the years people have asked me about what a private yoga session entails. Well, first of all it's a one on one very focused session which is solely directed towards the individual student and their specific needs. I have taught private sessions for the last 15 years to people with  many various physical conditions that feel very limiting for them and have gotten such great results. They tell me they feel so much better, more relaxed and joyful.

Some other students want to work on their form, alignment and get individual adjustments and personal corrections where I can really break down each pose and help them take their practice to the next level.

Students who are training for a marathon or triathlon or just need to learn how to breathe and stretch and open up the tightness in their muscles and joints and create more freedom of movement in their bodies and minds. It's all good and private sessions can help them.

So, what ever you needs may be, let me know and we can work together to help you feel better in mind, body and spirit.

An amazing Yoga transformation

The first time I took a private yoga session with Ann, I was in bad shape. My vertigo was out of control. I could barely stand up straight or walk without holding onto something.Our first sessions were completely on the floor, some stretches and litlle baby inversions. While Ann was teaching me the elements of the yoga poses, I didn't understand what it all meant.

But, I believed in Ann and I followed her lead. We met weekly for private sessions. Ann taught me to use my core muscles, the importance of proper breathing and drishti gaze and focus. All those skills in combination really helped me to do standing poses and get up from the floor. Even when I felt dizzy, breathing and concentration helped me to stand straight and not fall to the floor.

Within 6 months of consistent weekly practices with Ann, I found myself to be a different person. I was able to do much more than I ever thought I would. My balance improved, I was not only able to keep my balance on the mat, but actually carry the benefits of yoga practice with me through my days. Going on walks, breathing and enjoying life more than ever before.

Yoga became my lifeline, training with Ann helped me to better understand my body, to feel more in control and gave me the tools to control my vertigo.

Ann gave me back my life, or rather a better version of it, there are no words to describe how grateful I am for that.

Ann Yocum Bio

Ann Yocum-Experienced Yoga Teacher/Mentor/Lead Trainer- Yoga Alliance E-RYT-500

 Ann started her professional career as a dancer in NYC and went on to perform as a Professional Dancer/Singer all over the world. She was a Radio City Rockette who toured over 77 cities in the US and at Radio City in NYC. She danced with Liza Minelli at Carnegie Hall for the Great Performance series on PBS. She was lucky enough to follow her dreams and passion and see the world while doing it.
 Her whole life changed when she injured her right hip and ended up having a hip replacement and while recovering from the surgery decided to try hot yoga. Her yoga practice and her hip became stronger every day.She decided to get trained in Hot Yoga and run her own studio where she could introduce both hot yoga, vinyasa, ballet, and children's yoga. Ann had both hips replaced and practices  yoga every day. She has been teaching dance for over 30 years and yoga for almost 20 years. Ann's extensive dance background gave her such great discipline and focus. She continues to inspire all her students to reach new levels in their yoga practice everyday.
  She holds both private/semi-private yoga teacher trainings each year for devoted yoga students to become Hot Yoga/ Vinyasa Flow teachers under the Yoga Alliance 200 and 300-hour certification program with the help of her sister, Kathleen Yocum- a licensed acupuncturist in NYC for over 20 years.
Ann continues to practice yoga and teach privately to help people to recover from injuries and isues of all kinds. I believe in helping others to feel better in mind, body and spirit both on and off their mats.

This all inclusive training will prepare you in every way to teach yoga and to deepen your yoga practice. We include, the 8 Limbs of yoga, the 5 steps of Hatha yoga, details on pranayama and asana. Yoga philosophy and the chakras are included, as well as anatomy and physiology of the body and how it relates to your asana practice.

We work on vocal dynamics and breathwork so that each trainee feels totaly prepared to teach a 60, 75 or 90 minute hot yoga/flow sequence.

The CNY 300-HOUR HOT FLOW/HOTYOGA TEACHER TRAINING! This training will go deeper on all levels. We will be including more on the 5 categories of asana, creating and building vinyasa  flow sequences and classes and incorporating the Eight Limbs of Yoga into your teaching.  Building upon the 200-hour training each trainee will be coming up with their own flow sequences and developing their own unique flow style.

Ann will be helping the trainees to teach all levels-from beginner to advanced  and learning how to teach their students a basic hot flow to a more advanced level class which encompasses more advanced asanas and breathing techniques.  Kathy will be focusing more on meditation and exploring a much more detailed view of the bodily systems, chakras,  some basics of kundalini yoga.

This 300 hour teacher training will be all inclusive and will build your confidence as a vinyasa flow and hot yoga teacher. It will be all-inclusive and life-changing on every level both on and off the mat.

Pre-requisite for the 300-hour- You must be a registered 200-hour teacher with Yoga Alliance and have taught a minimum of 100 hours. When you complete this training you will be eligible to register as a RYT-500 with Yoga Alliance.

Kathy Yocum-licensed acupuncturist in NYC is leading this training with Ann. Her experience of the body , mind and spirit is extensive.
